IMPROVED TRAFFIC FLOW AND LOWER NOISE EMISSIONS IN CITIES
Waste transport in cities complicates the on-going traffic situation. Garbage trucks often block the roads. The city of London has to reserve 2 hours early in the morning for waste collection so that traffic is not obstructed. The city of Prague collects waste only at night in some parts of the city, which leads to increased noise levels when most people are trying to sleep – causing discomfort and decreasing people’s satisfaction with municipal services. The dump truck is at its noisiest when waste containers are being emptied and the truck has to rev up to maintain hydraulic pressure as the waste falls into the truck.
Waste monitoring provides information on the locations where waste collection is actually necessary. Because waste is collected only in places where it’s necessary, the driver is able to navigate by the optimal route calculated by the Sensoneo application. This makes the resulting routes much faster and efficient, which in turn improves traffic flow in cities as well as the comfort of their inhabitants, who are not exposed to needless excessive noise.
