Finance Yahoo: Portugal is preparing to launch its national deposit return scheme (DRS) for single-use beverage containers by 2026

The scheme will be administrated by the non-profit company SDR Portugal, with Sensoneo, a waste management technology business, providing the necessary IT solutions. Sensoneo’s technological platform will manage key aspects of the DRS, including its reverse logistics process. Portugal’s plan includes establishing a network of collection points, with estimates ranging from 7,000 to 10,000 locations. One of the distinctive aspects of Portugal’s DRS is its integration of the hotel, restaurant, and catering sectors (HoReCa).
