Discover our biggest achievements year by year since Sensoneo was founded in 2017. For example, we are proud to be the first company to have deployed commercial Narrowband IoT in the United States. In 2019, Sensoneo was recognized as one of the TOP 3 tech scale-ups in the CEE region. Another significant milestone was receiving the prestigious EIC Accelerator grant supporting innovative Green Deal technologies. More than 2,000 innovative projects from 38 European countries applied, and only 64 were selected for the grant.
2025
EY Technological Entrepreneur of the Year
In 2025, Sensoneo continued to achieve remarkable milestones and recognition. The company ranked 154th among Europe’s Fastest Growing Companies in the Financial Times and Statista ranking, securing the #2 position in the Waste Management & Recycling category.
Sensoneo successfully launched the Deposit Return System (DRS) in Austria and reported excellent collection results from its systems in Romania and Ireland, while preparing for three new DRS launches planned for late 2025 and early 2026.
The company’s leadership was also honored, as Co-Founders Andrea Basilová and Martin Basila received the prestigious EY Technological Entrepreneur of the Year 2024 award. Adding to these achievements, Sensoneo was celebrated with the Crystal Wing Award, organized under the auspices of the President of the Slovak Republic, which recognizes individuals and organizations whose talent, dedication, and results inspire the nation and promote its reputation worldwide.
2024
Expanding the portfolio of our DRS implementations
The year 2024 marked several important milestones for Sensoneo. It was exactly 10 years since the company installed its very first sensor, a symbolic achievement highlighting a decade of innovation.
Sensoneo expanded its global presence by opening new subsidiaries in the United States and Czechia, while revenues surpassed 8 million euros. The year also saw the launch of new products, including the Radar Sensor, and innovations such as BAM 4.0.
The co-founders were recognized by Forbes Slovakia among the country’s prestigious Changemakers, joining other leading innovators shaping the future. In addition, Sensoneo was ranked in LETS 2024, the second edition of the Leading European Tech Scaleups, among 251 distinguished companies.
2023
25th fastest growing company in CEE & the only system integrator of DRS in five European countries
What a great year! Sensoneo has achieved many remarkable accomplishments, solidifying the position of a leading company in smart waste management on a global scale. We have successfully launched the Deposit Return System (DRS) in Romania, and prepared for deployment of DRS in Hungary and Ireland in early 2024.
We became the 25th fastest-growing company in the CEE region, with 988% growth rate, secured Series A funding of 6.2Mio €, constructed the world’s largest smart waste installation in Madrid, and had the honor of hosting the Dutch Royal couple.
Our team has expanded from 70 to 120 members, and our innovative solutions help to protect the environment in 85 countries around the World.
2022
First and only system integrator of DRS in more than one country
In the past year, our company has achieved several significant milestones. We successfully launched the Deposit Refund System (DRS) in Slovakia and Malta, making us the first and only company in the world to develop and implement a software system for DRS in more than one country.
We attended IFAT Munich and RWM Birmingham as exhibitors with attractive stands, generating a lot of interest in our smart waste solutions. Finally, our revenues doubled from the previous year, surpassing 4 million EUR.
The Sensoneo team has grown from 52 to 78 colleagues and our solutions were offered in 82 countries at the end of this year.
2021
Presenting to the EC President at EXPO Dubai 2020
In May 2021 Sensoneo was among few companies presenting its smart solutions and innovations to the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen during her visit regarding the signing of recovery plan in Slovakia.
In October 2021, Sensoneo smart solutions were represented at the world’s greatest global gathering at EXPO Dubai 2020 and CEO of the company Martin Basila was chosen as a guest to the panel discussion of Expo Live Impact Series with the title “Recycling that makes a difference”.
In December 2021, Sensoneo received the Deloitte Impact Stars award in the category Technology Fast 50 Central Europe for the second time in a row.
2020
EIC Accelerator grant & Green Company of the Year
In 2020, we have been selected as one of the companies to win a prestigious EIC Accelerator grant, targeted to innovative technology projects supporting the objectives of the European Green Deal. In addition to the grant in the amount of 1,368 million intended for the demonstration of the environmental and economic benefits resulting from the large-scale deployment of the solution, the company also received an investment opportunity in the amount of 3 million euros from the European Innovation Council Equity Fund.
2019
Winner of World Cup Series Smart Territories Challenge
In October 2019, while attending the Nordic Edge Expo, Sensoneo received SMAVARD in Waste category – recognition of most innovative implementations in the Smart City market.
Sensoneo’s project of an optimized collection of 420 underground bins in Prague was awarded as the Best Smart city project in the Czech Republic of the year 2019.
In April 2019, Sensoneo became the winner of Innovation World Cup Series’ Smart Territories Challenge, which took place in Paris as part of the BIM World Paris, the world-leading event for digital transformation in construction, real estate industry, and urban planning.
In July 2019, Sensoneo achieved its first commercial Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) deployment in the United States, powered by T-Mobile’s network and supported by Twilio’s platform and SIM cards.
2018
Winner of Microsoft Award for Smart City and Public Administration
Prestigious recognitions were handed over at the Microsoft headquarters in Prague on September 25, 2018 Microsoft Awards, which highlight the best and most innovative projects implemented by Microsoft partners in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The Sensoneo solution made and impression thanks to the intelligent waste management project in the city of Nitra and became the winner of the category Public administration and development of smart city.

Mission Award for working on innovations tackling important social challenges
In 2017, Sensoneo received the Mission award for working on innovations that tackle important social challenges, the Innovation of the Year award 2017 from the Ministry of Economy, and the prestigious Microsoft Award in Public administration & Smart city category.
